Dr. Chris Kutarna is co-author of Age of Discovery: Navigating the Storms of Our Second Renaissance, a best-selling, internationally acclaimed book published by Bloomsbury and St Martin’s Press. Among other predictions, Chris publicly foresaw the outcome of the United Kingdom’s 2016 referendum on EU membership (Brexit) and the 2016 election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.Chris is also the Founder and Co-Creator of re•base, a global movement to re-base humanity through a series of connecting basecamps, where the “mixing that is missing” convenes to summit society’s greatest challenges, together. Chris’ mental map-making skills and clarifying speech are frequently sought-after by TV, radio, print and social media on four continents. His essays appear everywhere from The Guardian to TIME Magazine to Vogue. His essay, addressed to the chief cartographers of the 21st century, are deemed required Sunday reading by some of the world’s smartest people and boldest explorers. Chris has helped crowds of 50 to 5,000 to make sense of, and thrive through, rapid political, social and economic change. In 2018 he was rated one of the Global Top 10 Thinkers on the Future of Work by London Speaker Bureau. Chris has been a two-time Governor General’s Medallist, a Sauvé Fellow and Commonwealth Scholar, a Fellow of the Oxford Martin School and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology (Sydney) Business School. He holds a doctorate in politics from Oxford University, where he mapped the political change of China’s emerging middle class. Chris was also once a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Beijing, where he learned to speak Chinese—and tailor suits (long story). Born far from any water—on the Canadian Prairies—Chris nonetheless loves to row. He divides his time between London, Beijing and Regina, Saskatchewan.
